As part of the Optoelectronic Group of the Center for Telecommunication Studies, the Semiconductor Laboratory (LabSem) has last generation equipment which are able to produce top quality semiconductor samples.

At LabSem applied research in the field of III-V semiconductors is carried out and electronic and optoelectronic devices are developped mainly for telecommunication.

The activities range from epitaxial growth (atomic layer by atomic layer) to the fabrication of devices, including different steps in the characterization and evaluation of optical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic and structural properties. Record values for figures of merit of transistors and optical modulators have been achieved with the available equipment and know-how.

Undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral research projects are developped in the laboratory with the support from Finep, Faperj, CNPq, and Capes.
