Quantum Dot Infrared Photodetectors (QDIPs)

:: References           :: Other projects

We are studying self-assembled quantum dots of InAs on InGaAs for application in mid-infrared photodetectors using the dots in a well type structures (D-WELL). The quantum dots infrared photodetectors (QDIPs) are based in intraband transitions as the QWIPs are. Contrary to the QWIPs, the QDIPs allow coupling of normal incident radiation. In particular, we are interested in very narrow detection lines for improved contrast and better selectivity to tell gases apart in a mixture, for instance.
