We are developing infrared photodetectors based on intraband transitions in III-V semiconductors for different applications such as toxic gas detection, industrial monitoring, milk protein and lactose detection, thermal imaging, among others. In particular, we are interested in intraband transitions in periodic structures, which contain a defect, giving rise to localized states in the continuum. With this approach the detection wavelength is not limited by the bandoffset between the quantum well and barrier materials.
